- This article describes the first biophysically and morphologically realistic computational model of a cerebellar nucleus neuron.

- The model has been made publicly available in the ModelDB database (curated at Yale University) and is being used for follow-up studies by leading labs at Emory University (USA), Hebrew University (Israel), Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (Japan).

- The model is one of the cornerstones of the Open Brain Initiative (funded by the Wellcome Trust) that aims to facilitate collaborative modelling by drawing on concepts used in open source software development (sourceforge).
