Oxide nanoparticle thin films created using molecular templates
A new generic processing technique was developed in this work to synthesise nanostructured metal oxide films. Phthalocynanine precursors with specific surface morphologies were irradiated by uv light with decomposes volatile fragments and leaves an imprinted template from which the oxides are formed. A wide range of nanostructured assemblies can then be constructed from these building blocks. This new approach can be applied to a more diverse spectrum of precursors leading to the formation of ternaries and other oxide nanoparticles. The work was highlighted in a keynote presentation at the 4th International Symposium on Transparent Conductive Materials in Crete, October 2012.
