Additional information

This invited interdisciplinary paper allowed engineers and mathematicians to study an applied mechanical system. For the first time a bifurcation map of a complex system with three strong non-linearities was derived. Well received internationally, this work is cited in the proceedings of the Royal Society. The synergy of two disciplines strengthened research activities, where neither of the parties could have achieved same results individually. This work led to an international grant application to the Saudi government collaboratively with Colleges of Applied Sciences, (Oman), Umm Al-Qura University, Mekkah (Saudi Arabia).
