Double-weighted statement

This book is the first comprehensive history of Polio for forty years. It required a huge amount of research including examining the personal reports of victims. The history of the near-eradication of Polio is complex and the book also looks at the legacy of the disease and the flawed science that went along with the advances. It was a major research undertaking requiring extensive historical and medical knowledge and great intellectual effort to synthesize the material into a compelling narrative.
