Additional information

The development of reconfigurable electromagnetic wave reflectors using semiconductor devices is an important research area for the global microwave community. Prior to the work reported in this paper, studies have focussed on frequencies below 10 GHz. This paper examines the 100 GHz frequency region and shows that significant input power is required to achieve low reflection loss, thus limiting the range of applications and reflector area. However, it is also shown in the paper that power requirements can be optimised by careful device design, with a range of graphs included as a reference guide to future designers.
