Additional information

This work was facilitated the €2M, Science Foundation Ireland, Charles Parsons Energy Research Award (06/CP/E002) and represents a significant contribution to the online determination of the system Thévenin equivalent. A wide range of monitoring, control and protection functions benefit from, and can be enhanced by, the availability of an accurate online system equivalent. This is particularly the case when high penetrations (50%) of renewable generation (wind) are incorporated into Power Systems, as is currently the case on the island of Ireland.
