Far field subwavelength source resolution using Phase Conjugating Lens Assisted With Evanescent-to-Propagating Spectrum Conversion
We characterised the behaviour of an artificial nonlinear medium which can transfer detail imaged in the near field to standoff locations in the far field. This was achieved using evanescent to propagating wave conversion. We showed that we could resolve in the far field two images separated by around one seventh of a wavelength, (normal Raleigh limit is half a wavelenght). This work permits near field microwave microscopy methods to be extended to the far field using, for the first time, conventional electronic components. The work is being evaluated as a through wall imaging support technology.
