OSCAM - optimized stereoscopic camera control for interactive 3D
<26> This patented work has proved to be a commercially robust, real-time solution to the challenge of ensuring comfortable viewing of 3D stereoscopic video games, which is one of the key issues in the adoption of 3D stereoscopic content. The perceived depth through disparity provided, for the first time, a fail-safe comfortable target depth range by optimising constraints on camera convergence and interaxial separation according to dynamic scene content. The technique was integrated into Cars 2 video game, which made approximately $24m in global lifetime sales and further employed in Disney Consumer Products applications and Theme Park installation prototypes.
