A process study of computer-aided translation
<22> Originality: The paper presents novel types of assistance in a computer aided translation scenario and reports on a study of ten translators using the tool built for this purpose. It shows that productivity increases comparable to post-editing but with higher user satisfaction could be achieved.
Significance: The online tool Caitra http://www.caitra.org/ developed for the purpose of this study is the basis of subsequent research (e.g. on monolingual translators) and EU-funded research projects (CASMACAT, ACCEPT).
Rigour: The tool is a faithful re-implementation of state-of-the-art interactive machine translation with novel extension. The study is one of the largest translation process studies.
