Double-weighted statement

Second Sight, a major evaluation of the late Victorian visionary imagination as it responds to the threat of a growing materialism, examines the oeuvres of six writers committed to a Romantic visionary tradition and the mysterious relation between the seen and the unseen. This large-scale study of key canonical and non-canonical authors ranges widely over poetry, prose, and the novel, using previously untapped primary and archival sources from a long chronological period, and providing innovative critical scholarship on neglected, often substantial texts. Intricate intertextual readings relate significant late Victorian texts back to their germinating origins in literary Romanticism.
