Manuscript and Print in London c.1475 - 1530
This book is built around case studies of primary sources in both manuscript and print, many unpublished. Its engagement with detailed evidence of production and reception involved time-consuming activities such as collation of texts, consultation of printers' marks in manuscripts, and noting of annotation in manuscripts and printed books; the research took place over an eight-year period. Identifying and tracking down relevant sources in widely scattered libraries and archives posed considerable challenges; consultation of the sources necessitated extensive travel in the UK and the US, and a series of applications to funding agencies and libraries to support this.
