Divination, Prediction and the End of the Roman Republic

This monograph is based on wide-ranging background research, started in the mid-2000s and brought to completion in 2012. It encompasses a considerable body of varied primary material – literary, documentary and iconographic – and provides an extensive treatment of a topic that had never previously been the object of a full-scale investigation. Working on this project also required sustained engagement with scholarship outside the remit of Classics and Ancient History, notably in Anthropology, Sociology, and Religious Studies, and with relevant comparative material.
