A presentation of this work at the IUTAM Symposium on 'Mechanics of Fluid and Solid Foams' (Austin Texas, May 2011) led to an invitation to publish the work in a special issue of IJSS. Prof Ron Winter (AWE Aldermaston, ID_in_audit_file@awe.co.uk) arranged funding for an EPSRC Industrial CASE award (RG64582) to pursue further collaborative work on the topic of dynamic compressive collapse of metallic cellular materials after seeing the work presented at the GEMS 2011 conference (Imperial College, London, January 2011).
