Additional information

Felicity James commissioned essays, contributed the Introduction (pp. 1-27 ) and an essay on Lucy Aikin (pp.183-204), and co-edited the book. This is the first sustained study of a Dissenting family – the Aikins – from the 1740s to the 1860s. Essays by literary critics, historians of religion and science, and geographers explore and contextualise the achievements of this family in terms of cultural and literary impact.
