Wroxeter, the Cornovii and the Urban Process: Final Report of the Wroxeter Hinterland Project, 1994-1997 : Characterizing the City
Preparation of the Wroxeter Atlas involved intensive research on the substantial geophysics dataset collected by the Wroxeter Hinterland Project (WHP) to generate a base map of the Roman city. This was then amalgamated with the hundreds of aerial photographs of the site taken since WW2. The resulting building plots were compared with excavated data where possible. Presenting the results has demanded considerable time and resource to complete as an effective means of presenting the data had to be invented. The result is the first integrated dataset from a single Roman city, doubling the number of buildings from the site.
