Additional information
This paper demonstrates the feasibility of automotive air conditioning driven by waste heat. This work is an EU funded project in collaboration with automotive manufacturer Fiat (Torino, Italy). The work presented here has led to further industrial funding with the construction of a solar driven cooling container for the US Army in collaboration with ATMI Inc, Danbury (Dr. Don Carruthers, DCarruthers@atmi.com). Sorption Energy Ltd UK is developing prototypes of gas fired sorption heat pumps based on the same concept, which is 30% more efficient than the conventional condensing boiler (Dr David Auty, david.auty@sorptionenergy.com).
