This paper demonstrated that the technique established in the previous paper can be used to investigate very complex geotechnical processes like augering. This paper lead to further development of funded research: EPSRC first grant (EP/I031995/1): Laboratory simulation of field tube sampling using transparent soil, glass tubes and PIV. This paper has generated some interest in chemical biologists in Harvard University (Dr. Claudiu Stan, claudiu.stan@alum.mit.edu)
