Double-weighted statement

Arden’s exceptional editorial standards required:

• modernising the 1647 text and collating 6 Folio and 12 historical editions in multiple British and US archives

• composing a commentary from extensive sources, sifting hundreds of early modern plays to identify the text’s complex discursive contexts against: 38 plays by Fletcher; 69 by other dramatists; the RSC and Globe archives; readings by Presence Theatre

• conducting new research into substantial French and Spanish sources (translating most, checking early modern translations of others)

• writing thousands of commentary notes (36,500 words)

• establishing new cultural contexts in cartographic and textual representations of European colonialism in early modern Indonesia
