Tidal farms could provide a significant power source for the UK. Modelling farm power output and optimisation are essential steps in both engineering and commercial realisation of this. This paper presents work on turbine-turbine interaction for small farms (up to 7 units) which is the largest farm simulated with this degree of detail, this work led to the award of a major EPSRC grant in farm simulation (EP/J010138/1). Its publication also led to interest from Mojo Marine and Tidepod, innovative companies in this area (steve.jermy@tidepod.com)
