Middlebrow literary cultures : the battle of the brows, 1920-1960

This edited volume of essays came out of the AHRC Transatlantic Middlebrow Network and was conceived after the launch conference, Historicising the Middlebrow (Sheffield University, July 2008), which Brown and Grover co-organised with Professor Faye Hammill. The edited collection is one of the outputs of the network: all the essays were commissioned by Brown and Grover, who edited the essays and requested revisions to enhance the standard of the book's scholarship and intellectual coherence. As well as Brown's co-written introduction the research contribution of the whole collection should be considered.
