Double-weighted statement

This 90 000 monograph is the result of five years' research. It considers the output of Maghrebi-French and North African emigre filmmakers in France from 1999-2012 (about 100 films in total). It comprises a detailed examination of representational trends in a transformative decade for these filmmakers, alongside in-depth analysis of production, distribution and exhibition data. As a result, and given that this is the first book-length study to cover this decade for Maghrebi filmmakers in France in its entirety, it has required extensive archival research at the BFI (London), BNF, CNC and BiFi (Paris).
