This is the first investigation into the multiphase hydrodynamics of ionic liquids and it has large implication for scale up of equipment that involves interfacial mass transfer. It was highlighted in a Plenary by John Wilkes (john.wilkes@usafa.af.mil) Pioneer in Ionic liquid research a keynote at 4th International Congress on Ionic Liquids, 2011.
