Orzech was General Editor and China area editor (with co-editors R. Payne and H. Sorensen responsible for Korea and Japan) of this 1200 page work, assembling the editorial team, assembling a team of forty-one contributors, and compiling the comprehensive bibliography (1059-1146). He is author or co-author of nine peer reviewed articles in the volume. He was responsible for all copy-editing. Aside from the General Editorship, he undertook 30% of the soliciting and editing of specific texts.
