Additional information

This paper describes a novel circuit for interfacing to the nervous system enabling a new type of neural implant for vestibular rehabilitation. This work addresses the challenge of charge injection (causing electrode/tissue damage), without compromising power efficiency. The underlying device has been taken up by Johns Hopkins University (andreou@jhu.edu), and received support from industry (Med-El). This was acknowledged as “prior art” in two patents (US20120277835, US20130090706), been the topic of an invited talk (EPFL) and concepts been adopted by several international labs (e.g. Georgia Tech pamela.bhatti@ece.gatech.edu). Representative of a body of work including 6 journal/6 conference papers in vestibular prostheses.
