Classification of Finger Movements for the Dexterous Hand Prosthesis Control with Surface Electromyography
<28>The method for the classification of finger movements enables a higher accuracy than existing methods, a larger number of actions recognized per electrode and for the first time identifies thumb abduction. New tests conducted on a large number of amputees show that a high performance can be achieved by an individualised tuning of the set of movements available. This work is a step towards enabling manufacturer of prosthetic hands to offer more capable dextrous hands. The paper is one of the 25 most popular articles of the journal since its publication, for over 6 month in a row in 2013.
