Evaluating the use of a wiki for collaborative learning
The study was funded by HEFCE through the Write Now CETL. The paper analyses and evaluates essential aspects for the successful deployment of a wiki in a higher education setting using Salmon’s five-stage e-learning framework. The originality of the research is that f it was the first to apply Salmon’s five-stage e-learning framework to the evaluation of the employment of a wiki in a higher education context. The significance of the research lies in the way in which it has been used to inform professional practice in e-learning. It has also made a contribution to the debate on the blended learning and innovative approaches to teaching and learning in higher education. In addition, the authors have presented papers based on the research findings at both national and international conferences. Databases show that the article has been viewed 1,179 times by the academic community, and cited 25 times by other academics in publication.The researcher made a significant contribution to the paper. He was the principle researcher for the study, and leading author of this paper.
