Additional information

This short story was commissioned to form part of an anthology, BioPunk, Stories from the Far Side of Research, in which creative writers collaborated with scientists. Dilys Rose collaborated with a Neuroscience specialist at the University of Edinburgh, on the groundwork for this fiction. Following discussion of current and projected applications of neuroscientific research she produced a story draft which was then reviewed and responded to by her paired scientist. As well as the print publication, the work was also presented at the Edinburgh Science Festival in spring 2013. The story is accompanied by a commentary on its science from Dr. Jane Haley, School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Edinburgh.
