Authentication of Digital Streams
<18> Multicast is used in a wide variety of daily applications to transfer data to large audiences via public networks. Ensuring data authentication for such communications is crucial. We provide efficient algorithms guaranteeing authentication despite the presence of adversaries jamming and reordering information into the network. We also provide a study of the overhead / computational running time trade-off and show to efficiently tune the internal algorithm parameters for an increased speed-up. We dissert on the practical use of those list recoverable-based techniques in the more general context of cryptography and emphasize the practical limitations that such approaches inherently exhibit.
