Double-weighted statement

The book is the first study of screenplays to explore fully the consequences of the screenplay’s interdisciplinary status as both an industrial film document and a literary text. Its arguments therefore mediate and negotiate between literary and film theory and criticism, requiring extensive knowledge of and expertise in both disciplines. In addition to the wide range of published primary and secondary materials, the primary research draws on extensive original archival research in Los Angeles, especially in chapter 5.
