Additional information

Successful implementation of flow control technologies on aircraft wings has great potential for fuel saving and yet the fundamental fluid mechanism associated with the use of flow control devices is still not well understood. This paper was the first reported in the literature evaluating round synthetic jets for controlling the delay of laminar flow separation over a wide range of operating conditions. The results provide the basis for selecting the optimal operating conditions in practical settings. This work was undertaken during a project funded by EPSRC (EP/E047041/1) and Airbus.
