Algorithmic issues for three-invariant hyperplastic Critical State models
Collins and Houslby developed the thermodynamically sound hyperplastic framework (refs in paper) yet neither presented a complete J3-dependent constitutive model or considered the algorithmic aspects of the stress return. This paper overcomes these shortfalls. It is revealed how the form of the dissipation function influences the accuracy of the integration scheme. Not only does the paper offer an elegant 2-surface successor to the widely used isotropic Cam Clay model, it provides unique evidence of the efficiency and robustness of the devised algorithm (Figures 16-19). This work formed the springboard for the later anisotropic formulation described in JMechPhysSolids 61.
