Additional information

This paper is based on research funded by the DfE using longitudinal data collected for a major study of childrens progress and development across different phases of education (Effective Provision of Pre-school, Primary and Secondary Education 3-16 project). It is the first study employing an educational effectiveness design to study the continuing effects of pre-school experiences on childrens academic progress up to the end of primary schooling in England. Results informed the design of the major BIKS study of pre-school effects in Germany.
