This manuscript uses an un-conventional and non-destructive technique to make indirect observations of biochemical changes in biological tissue. This has opened new applications of optical coherence tomography, a non-destructive optical modality, in regenerative medicine and diagnosis revealing important molecule influences on the physiological and macroscopic integrity of loaded bearing tissues. The work was perfromed in collaboration with Oregon Health and Science University (Dr Ruikang Wang).
