Revealing the history of sheep domestication using retrovirus integrations
This paper explores how retrovirus DNA can give insight into the history of sheep domestication. Dr Mainland was involved in the research to provide the archaeological insight, and wrote the sections of the paper dealing with archaeological perspectives on the process of sheep domestication in the past as well as contributing to an overall understanding of the patterning evident within the genetic data. Dr Mainland was the only archaeologist in the grouping (the rest of the contributors were geneticists), which indicates (together with the placement in the list of authors) the significance of Dr Mainland's contribution to the output.
