Additional information
<22>This paper describes a new variant for the PPM (Prediction by Partial Matching) text compression algorithm that achieves state-of-the-art results for Chinese text. It introduces a new two-step encoding process effective for large alphabets, with the orders stream and symbols stream encoded separately. The paper also demonstrates the continuing involvement of Teahan in leading edge research in text compression and language modelling. It is built on a number of previous publications of Teahan in the text compression area.
