Granatum is an acousmatic composition for fixed media and has been shortlisted for the Foundation Destellos Fifth International Competition of Electroacoustic Composition and Visual-music 2012 in Argentina.
The title of the work reflects the sound synthesis and treatment techniques as well as the qualities of the sound textures employed here. The work aims to develop relationships between what are perceived to be organic aural textures with the timbral characteristics of organic and inorganic materials found in nature. These sounds have been achieved via extensive processing of short and simple recorded impulses. The events portrayed in this piece are fictitious, and any resemblance to real events, past, present, or future, is entirely coincidental but highly probable. The work was realised at the composer’s home studio in the fall of 2011.
