Additional information

This paper outlines a new, reliable, faster, more cost effective and simpler method of determining the molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) of membranes. It is the most precise ever one-filtration determination of MWCO for nanofiltration and low ultrafiltration range membranes for aqueous applications (where most industrial applications of these membranes lie) providing a new benchmark and enabling MWCO for these to be more accurately determined than ever before. The method allows the time consuming and costly multiple filtrations of pure single compounds to be replaced by a single filtration, saving membrane researchers, manufacturers and users time and money.
