Additional information

The paper has informed the government BIM roadmap. The research was carried out as part of the IMRC EPSRC Centre EP/E001882/1 and GR/R64575/01 (Jan2002-Dec2011, £7.8M budget). This involved over 50 R&D and industry organisations, including the authors of the government BIM roadmap. It advocates a semantic process approach for information delivery that now underpins the 'Level 3' government BIM roadmap. The main author (Rezgui) is involved in the specification of BIM Level 3 as an active management board member of BuildingSmart. The research in the paper formed the scope of a sponsored chair (Rezgui) funded by BRE.
