Additional information

This paper reports for the first time on the potential for gesture-based avatar technology for conflict mediation in school bullying situations. The study involved collaboration with Kent County Council (Charlie.Beaumont@kent.gov.uk), a youth organisation (Project Salus, Kate.Winspear@projectsalus.co.uk) and three secondary schools in Kent. This output makes a significant contribution towards designing and engineering effective technology-based interventions to support young people. The results are reported in a local government case study which informs local councils about best practice in using social media tools (http://www.local.gov.uk/c/document_library/get_file?uuid=abffcbb4-b838-49e5-936e-73ac1db060a1&groupId=10171, Siobhan.coughlan@local.gov.uk). The findings were reported in the popular online magazine (http://thefamilygrapevine.co.uk/blog/2012/11/).
