English abstract

Starting from two works of art by Uriel Orlow the author discusses the role of art for the remembrance of the Shoah. Auschwitz changed the idea of work as its only purpose was destruction, the creation of absence. This model for the production of emptiness became an attribute of industrial mass production. Mass production of artworks through their endless reproducibility challenges the authenticity of art. But it is in the process of creation that art has the capacity to reflect and analyse the Shoah. The singularity of an artwork can refer to Auschwitz and allude to its production of emptiness.
