Additional information

This paper presents the first numerical algorithm for a theory DOI:10.1103/PhysRevE.73.016307 that remedies 70-years-known shortcomings of two-phase flow modeling in porous media. The paper also presents detailed investigations of the parameter space and suggests experiments (with accompanying predictions) that allow testing of the theory by experiments. The paper led to two follow-up papers and launched an international collaboration with Zegeling (Utrecht University, NL) that has so far produced two joint publications and contributed to two PhD theses. The suggested experiments led to a new collaboration with Oostrom (PNNL, WA, US).
