Additional information

This paper presents the first qualitative data revealing that the industrial plasmas studied are highly electronegative, resulting in unexpected discharge behaviour. The results were obtained on an EPSRC funded grant [EP/E035183/1] as part of an international collaboration with Dublin City University and Chuo University, Tokyo. The paper led to project leader JW Bradley being invited as plenary speaker to the International Conference on Plasma Surface Engineering (2010), and guest speaker at IOP Plasma Surfaces and Films meeting (2012).
