Additional information

This paper provides experimental evidence that particle scattering may cause spectral distortions in terahertz spectra, and provides a novel and practical way to minimise such effects. The empirical expression derived in this work allows the modelling of terahertz reflections from, for example, multiple-layered car paint samples, which has enabled TeraView Ltd (Cambridge, UK) to obtain a major automotive industry/TSB grant (P S O'Kelly, Paddy@teraview.com).
