The paper describes the design, construction and testing of a novel linear ion trap, fabricated using digital light processing. The fabrication method presented in the paper is being patented (GB2009/051115). Directly as a result of this work, an EU consortium has been funded to € 3.2M under FP7 to develop the instrument for border security applications http://www.sniffles.eu
