AutoTopography: what can physical mementos tell us about digital memories?
The aim of this research was to understand how people develop attachments to objects in order to support the development of similar attachments to digital content such as emails and other personal content.
This paper received Best Paper Nomination at the CHI international conference, the most relevant forum for research in human-computer interaction. It is considered a seminal work in this niche research area alongside contributions from Microsoft Research Cambridge and the School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University. Since its publication the paper has been downloaded 1049 times (data from ACM digital library, correct at 04.10.2013).
As part of the EU project, 'Memoir: memories of things past', this work was presented by Professor Steve Whittaker at Google (recorded as part of Google Tech Talk) and Stanford University.
