Additional information

Transport noise reduction devices (NRD), part of the surface transport infrastructure address environmental and social needs, have a high economic impact, and involve a range of raw materials raising multiple technical issues. The paper presents a bespoke tool developed for assessing the sustainability of transport NRD as part of the FP7 EU Quiesst grant. An article about this paper selected by independent scientific advisors was published in Science for Environment Policy, of the European Commission's Environment Directorate-General. It was sent also to over 16,000 policymakers, academics and business people across Europe to assist in the development of effective, evidence-based policies.
