Translating and mutating identities: Cypriots who write in English
Adil deploys poetic and autoethnographic methodologies to discuss the work of Lysandros Pitharas, a diasporal Greek Cypriot poet and to explore how literary canons have personal and political consequences in the Cypriot context. This chapter is part of the first comprehensive anthology of modern Turkish Cypriot literature. It has been on the syllabi of several universities, including the courses Current Turkish Cypriot Literatures at the University of Cyprus and Introduction to Translation Studies at Eastern Mediterranean University. This submission is accompanied by a portfolio of supporting material: An Architecture of Forgetting (DVD of photo-essays) and a prose poem Fragments from an Architecture of Forgetting Cadences vol. 3 no. 1 and 2, 2007.
