Additional information

This output consists of the following elements: Introduction, Hibbitt’s own article, and his research contribution as co-editor to the volume. Generated by the editors’ current research into the notion of cosmopolitanism around the end of the nineteenth century, the aim of the initial workshop conference (2011) and this subsequent publication was to explore different conceptions and uses of the term in various European language areas, particularly those that developed or nuanced the prevalent view of French domination based on Bourdieu’s approach to the literary field. The volume seeks to contribute to our understanding of the ongoing aesthetic-political uses of cosmopolitanism.
