Additional information
Detached eddy simulation, as a hybrid of RANS and LES, offers important advantages for practical applications, in particular aircraft flows. This paper addresses the key issues of the accuracy of the approach for flows with mild trailing edge separation. Further insight into the various modelling strategies through numerical studies impacted on the development of the DG-DES code, which becomes the key tool for the EU FP7 project, MARS, led by the Sheffield team as the technical coordinator (Contact: CINME, Spain).
