This paper provides a theoretical way to develop a thermal storage system with porous materials. The results lead to the collaboration with Baosteel in Shanghai, China (Dr Shunhua Xiang, email: xshh@baosteel.com) on the waste heat recovery and storage. Also some contents of this paper were presented as a keynote talk in UK-China Symposium on Clean Energy and Nanotechnology, 16-17 September 2010, UK.
